2nd visit

On my second visit I went up to the first grade classroom to gather my folders and games. When i saw the teacher she informed me that the young boy who pees his pants was taken out of the program and in his place was a girl. I was very happy that I wouldn't have to deal with him anymore. Then i went down to the kindergarten class grabbed there stuff, and then observed the teachers and students until it was time to tutor the kids. The Kindergartners actually listen better, and are more excited than the first graders. The first graders are more hyper and want to fool around and socialize. I have to remind them more to pay attention and do what their told. They are still excited to play the games and read books with me.

  1. Great, although this post 2 is related to prompt 1 (see p. 5 of our course syllabus) and dedicated to researching the demographics of your school (www.infoworks.ride.edu)

  2. My 6 children that I tutor are the same way. They act the same and I have also noticed that the kindergardeners work better and listen better than the first graders. I feel that the kindergardeners feel that this is more of a fun activity and the first graders see it as a fun time, but also more work.

  3. Danielle,
I've noticed that the younger the students are, the more respect they have for the teacher. (This is partly why I chose to be an Eled-teacher :-D) The Kindergarteners are experiencing something new and are still at that age that loves school. When you remind the 1st graders that they have to do their work instead of fool around, do they listen to you? I've found that even though this age group is more hyper and unwilling to do their work, they still are young enough to respect authority. Hope your next visit is great!
